TV series & main timeline comic continuity:

Willow starts off the series as very unconfident, subject to her mother’s high pressures & Cordelia’s barbs at school & pathetically crushing on Xander. Her friendship with Buffy & in the Scooby gang & romance with the musician Oz gradually give her stronger sense of self as she unlocks further talent in magic as a witch. She even manages to manifest enough magic to restore Angel’s soul. 

When I’m college Willow grows in strength with her magic but gradually starts to use it as a crutch. She is emotionally devastated when Oz leaves her to work on his control of his werewolf powers. Willow throws herself further into magic & bonds with another witch, Tara. Willow gradually awakens she is a lesbian & is in love with Tara & the two begin a relationship. She grows happy enough she completely puts aside her grief over Oz & is able to let him go even when he returns later on.

Willow is emotionally devastated when Tara is mindwiped by Glory, nearly getting herself killed fighting the god. She manages to restore her mind in battle against Glory. She is broken over Buffy’s death. She & Tara move into the Summers home & taking care of Dawn Summers.

Willow becomes determined to resurrect Buffy, going through extreme means but being ultimately successful. She also manages to restore Amy Madison from her rat form, though she gradually becomes more addicted to her magic to point she drives recklessly with Dawn in the car & crashes it & loses her relationship with Tara by erasing her memory when Tara was upset with her. She goes cold Turkey to cleanse herself of her magic addiction, however she relapses when Tara is killed by a stray shot by Warren Mears. Unable to resurrect Tara as she did Buffy, Willow absorbs an inordinate amount of dark magic , her hair turning black as she hunts down & flats Warren to achieve vengeance. She even fights Buffy as she pursues killing Jonathan & Andrew, the other members of the trio. Willow is captured by Giles but manages to escape & attempts to end the world in a dark ritual, but Xander manages to snap her out of her grief & stop her rampage and begin mourn Tara properly.

As the first evil rises, Willow assists Buffy in training & protecting the potentials. She develops a romantic entanglement with the oldest potential Kennedy. Willow in the final battle manages to activate the power of all potential Slayers in the final battle & escapes Sunnydale as the hellmouth is Finally destroyed.

As Buffy operates the slayer organization, Willow works deeper on her magical studies, forming a romantic bond with a snake-woman tricker demon named Aluwyn. Willow fights Amy Madison & a revealed as not so dead Warren Mears. During the twilight crisis she tries to protect the seed of wonder from army of demons, then loses all her magic when Buffy destroys the seed. Willow also breaks up with Kennedy.

Willow grows distant from Buffy in a post no-magic world.l, getting a job at a tech firm. She eventually decides to go to Angel, hoping she can use his son Connor’s power to breach into the hell dimension he was raised in & regain her magic. They are successful, Willow though is quickly overcome by the evil energies of the dimension & returns to her dark form as she faces an old one. She snaps out of it with Angel’s help and enters a dimension where she reunites with Aluwyn. Though she also reunites with her old magic dealer from Sunnydale. After a long battle Willow is granted a return to her home by a higher power with her magic restored.

As Dawn lays dying from absence of magic, the scoobies go to the deeper well in hope to find means of saving her. Severin & Simone get their ahead of them as Willow & the others are held off by the magic counsel. Once inside the deeper well Willow finds a new seed of wonder that will reach full power in a thousand years. She gets the idea to have Severin to supercharge it with the magic he has stolen. Her plan is successful, though at cost of the destruction of the deeper well & Severin’s death.

Willow hells Buffy protect the new slayer guide that determines the new rules of magic. She breaks up with Aluwyn as she realizes she doesn’t trust her.

Buffy the Last vampire Slayer: Willow & Tara are married for years & raise a daughter who eventually manifests potential as a slayer, estranged but loving in memory to Buffy. She is killed in a terrorist attack by the vampiric watcher’s council when trying to enact a ritual to restore the Sun. Her daughter & Buffy later manage to enact the ritual & Willow’s spirit has a brief but heartfelt reunion with Thessaly.
