More on Jonathan Hickman
Jonathan Hickman was born and raised in South Carolina. He graduated from South Florence High School in Florence, South Carolina. After high school, Hickman earned a degree in Architectural Design with fellow schoolmate Tom Muller.
In 2006, Jonathan started his comics work by doing the small miniseries The Nightly News at Image Comics. Hickman also did various short stories for Marvel, including one for Satana in Legion of Monsters. He continued to strengthen his work with several more titles such as Red Mass for Mars and Pax Romana.
It was enough for comics superstar Brian Michael Bendis to notice his Image ongoings. He attached his name onto Hickman's first ongoing at Marvel—Secret Warriors—a title that focused on Nick Fury's squadron of superpowered operatives in the aftermath of Secret Invasion.
With that, Jonathan started his saga under two limited series called S.H.I.E.L.D. It gained enough traction to the point where Hickman revitalized the Fantastic Four franchise and eventually creating the Future Foundation in the process.
After his Fantastic Four/FF runs ended, Jonathan Hickman took the titles of Avengers and New Avengers in the wake of Axel Alonso's promotion to Editor-in-Chief during the November of 2012. It led up to a stunning event called Secret Wars in 2015, one where the entire Marvel Universe transfixed under one Earth. Hickman would later leave Marvel to work on his East of West Image comic.
In March of 2019, Hickman's name was published on the back of every comic, teasing his return to Marvel. After three dormant years of no "Big 2" work, Jonathan would script House of X/Powers of X, a groundbreaking event that changed the past and present of the X-Men. Hickman is the current director and storyteller of the X-Men franchise, superintendent of other ongoings such as Marauders, Excalibur, X-Force, Wolverine, New Mutants, S.W.O.R.D. and Hellions.
