On 9 April 1940, Denmark is occupied by Germany and is involved in the Second World War. Despite the cooperation policy and many politicians' attempts to get Denmark through the crisis without difficulty, the war affects everyone. The population is in shock, and while most just concentrate on getting through "the five dark years", a few take up arms to fight for freedom and the motherland.
